Sustainability of its business, processes and products is a major focus area of Exide's business philosophy. Towards this end not only are several of Exide's products oriented towards environmental protection viz. e-rickshaw batteries, solar batteries, the company through one of its wholly owned subsidiaries (Chloride Power Systems and Solutions) has established a strong presence in the non-conventional energy business.

This subsidiary company Chloride is one of the major players in integrated

solar systems under the Capital Subsidy Scheme of NABARD, which in turn has been enlisted by the SPV Division of Ministry of New & Renewable Energy. Chloride liaises with designers of Solar Lighting. Systems, procures components and builds a fully integrated system.

As a System Integrator, Chloride provides complete Solar Power Solutions from KW level Power Packs to Roof-top Solar Power Plants to MW level large Solar Power Plants. Chloride's Solar Division is also

engaged in marketing of various types of solar products like Solar Module, Solar Battery, Solar Charge Controller, Solar Hybrid Inverters and other items.

Another new product developed by Chloride is the E-Rickshaw charger. E-Rickshaw is a totally battery operated vehicle that does not pollute environment like fuel combustion engines.

Chloride has recently introduced E-Rickshaw charger for taking this green movement forward.

Chloride offers fast and optimum charging of the battery within minimal time and ensure long back-up from the battery. It enhances battery life too.

Exide's commitment to the environment is further evident in its battery recycling business. The company, through its wholly owned subsidiary Chloride Metals, has two lead smelting units - one near Bangalore and another near Pune - where it recycles old discarded batteries to reclaim and recycle the lead content in an environment friendly way.
